Two days in Krabi: sunrise, a lake, Railay, and a waterfall
At the end of January 2024, we decided to go to Krabi for a couple of days. We didn't go alone but together with friends. We set out at night, and the whole first day, January 31, we drove from spot to spot with almost no stops.
We watched the sunrise at a viewpoint that looks out over a whole sea of rocky islands. There is a big woven nest there, and of course we climbed into it.

Then we took a boat ride on a lake. Sheer, forest-covered rocks rise out of the turquoise water, and Leia fell asleep in the boat while taking in the views. That day it was mostly Pavel who took the pictures.

On the second day, February 1, we first climbed up to a temple: 140 steps lead to it, and from the top there is a view of the surroundings. At the temple, Leia gave Buddha a high five. In the afternoon it was nap time, and we slept right in the car while our friends went kayaking.

The same day we went to Railay Beach. It is surrounded by rocks and can't be reached by land, so we went there by boat. On the way from the pier to the beach we came across monkeys. And there, on Railay, we saw the sun off.

For the night we moved to another hotel, a little away from civilization: it has hot springs on its grounds. We checked in late at night and that same night soaked in the pools — some are really hot and some are just warm.
On February 2, we went to Khao Phanom Bencha National Park. We walked around the park and made it to a waterfall. The trail went on further, to the top of the waterfall, but it wasn't suitable for Leia, so we didn't go any higher. At one tree, two small monitor lizards were basking in the sun.

The trees in the park are gigantic. One of them seems to be the biggest in Thailand.
Then we stopped at a viewpoint where there was a nest again — and our little chick in it. The view from the platform stretches over forest and rocks all the way to the horizon. From there we headed home: we still had about an hour and a half of driving ahead.
