Emerald Pool: ticket price and how to get in for free

As of the end of 2015, one ticket for a white tourist cost 200 baht. For us that is much more than we are willing to pay for attractions like this. So we got in for free: we went around the checkpoint through the jungle. To do this, before the checkpoint you need to go left along the stream, then cross it and come out onto the tourist trail. Here is the route from the GPS tracker:

P.S. Even though a sign says swimming in the blue lake itself is forbidden, scaring you with some kind of underwater currents that pull you under, you can still allow yourself that pleasure. I swam with park staff around, and nobody said a word to me. We didn't find any dangerous currents either. So we conclude that the swimming ban is there so that crowds of tourists don't spoil the perfect picture of the clear lake with their bodies and muddy water. And if there aren't many people, why not allow yourself the pleasure: swimming there is really very nice ;)
