Goa beaches on the map of India in Russian

Goa is not an island, as many people mistakenly believe! Goa is the smallest state of India by size, but the most touristy one. Especially for you, we are posting a map of Goa with beaches in Russian.

Let us remind you once again that Goa is not an island, but India. The map, which by the way is in Russian, marks all the main beaches of Goa, as well as some sights:

About Goa

So, Goa is the smallest of the 28 states of India (101 km of coastline), a former Portuguese colony, and a hugely popular resort both for locals and for foreigners, most of whom are Russians. Goa is a completely different India — Europeanized, without religious prejudices and taboos. For example, Indian women here don't wear saris at all, but put on short little shorts and bikinis, which is not the all-Indian way at all.

Prices in Goa are somewhat higher than the Indian average, but alcohol here is the cheapest.

The only reason to come here is a beach vacation, which is what we did for a whole month. The exceptions were scooter trips to the little village of Hampi in the neighboring state of Karnataka — a former imperial capital (now in ruins) — and a visit to Dudhsagar Falls.

We traveled all over the state, and of the resort areas we liked South Goa best, specifically the Palolem area — the cleanest, calmest, and most picturesque part of the resort state. The beach here is the nicest, the water is clean, and the infrastructure is good.

We won't say anything bad about the other beaches of Goa — they also have a great sea and all that, but all in all Palolem wins in our eyes. So here they are, the beaches of Goa: (we can no longer remember which one is called what :)

Prices in Goa

We want to note that we were in Goa in the off-season, which had only a positive effect — prices for everything were lower: scooter rental — 150 rupees/day, decent accommodation with Wi-Fi, a balcony, and a fan — 500 rupees, and in everything else the Indians were willing to meet us halfway too. The downside of the off-season never showed itself — the vast majority of days were sunny and comfortable. Once again during our Journey we are convinced that the off-season is a wonderful time: the chance of bad weather is not particularly high, while prices are lower and there are fewer tourists.

There was also one more beach we really liked that had not been spoiled by tourism — Paradise Beach, which is already in the neighboring state of Maharashtra, not far from the border with Goa: a very beautiful place, a pine forest, a minimum of tourists, wonderful sand and sea.
