Jog Falls
Jog Falls in Karnataka, the state next to Goa, is the highest waterfall in India. Its height is 253 meters. We'll tell you how to get to Jog Falls from South Goa by scooter on your own.
How to get to Jog Falls
From Murudeshwar to Jog Falls we rode along the NH206 road for about 3 hours. The road is quite scenic, and on the way there is even a purpose-built viewpoint with an ice cream vendor.

Unfortunately, our trip took place during the low (dry) season, when waterfalls do not show their full grandeur and beauty (because of the small amount of rainfall). Here is what we saw:

The entrance fee to the waterfall grounds is 100 rupees. On the grounds there is a park, a local café, and a shower/restroom. We can say without a doubt that this waterfall is worth visiting in the rainy season and on a weekend.
Without lingering much, we had lunch and moved on to the key place of our trip, Hampi. It was already clear that we would have to find a place to spend the night somewhere along the way, since the navigator said the drive to Hampi would take more than 6 hours (and that's assuming good roads and not counting traffic), and it was already about 15:00.
Before dark we managed to reach Harihar, a small but very crowded town, and there we found a “hotel” at a completely unreasonable price of 500 rupees. The owner flatly refused to bargain, apparently because he understood that we were so tired we wouldn't be able to keep searching through an unfamiliar, dirty, noisy town. Besides, it had already gotten dark. Our room was awful, but the view from its window was even more awful:
Having survived that night, we set off early in the morning on the home stretch, and just 3 hours later we were in Hampi.
